Generating MDGs
The purpose of a generated MDG is to create a useful toolbox of elements for each diagram type.
Access
To generate an MDG from a Reference Model, just choose ‘Save as MDG’ from the Reference Model details page.
- EA Ribbon > Specialize > Model Expert > Reference Models > Choose a reference model
- EA Project browser > Select a Root package > Specialize > Model Expert > Model Expert Browser > Expand treeview > select Reference model > Select button ‘Reference Model Details’
In the Reference Model Details window > Give your MDG a name > Save as MDG
This will generate an MDG with:
- For each diagram, a toolbox of the element types & stereotypes which are allowed in that diagram.
- Nothing else.
What the modeller sees
When your users create or open diagrams in packages managed by this Reference Model, Model Expert will create and display the MDG toolbox appropriate for that diagram type.
The MDG will not contain definitions for the EA Quick Linker, because these apply to the whole EA repository, and Model Expert always works at a package level.
