Using Word Styles
Changing Word Styles in a document
eaDocX uses the Word Styles that are already defined in your MS Word installation. By default it uses your Normal Word template.
Text styles
To choose the styles to apply to each part of an eaDocX document, open the document in eaDocX and choose Settings > Document Settings > Inline Text.
There you can define which styles will apply to
- Inline text
- Bullet lists
- Numbered lists
Heading styles
Define the heading levels for each part of a document in the formatting window for that content (e.g. package, diagram, matrix report, etc.) Once the document has been generated, the headings can be seen in the eaDocX Preview Window. By default, eaDocx will use your standard Word heading styles, but these can be changed for each document in Settings > Document Settings > Overrides to Word Heading styles.
Word Table styles
… is a whole other topic – see Using Word table styles.
Word Style for Quick Documents
The default Word style for Quick Documents is the Word ‘Normal’ style. Change this in Settings > Application Settings > Quick Document > Default Word template.
Show the Word Styles in a document
eaDocX generates documents and shows them in Word Print layout. To see which Word styles have been used:
- in the document eaDocX menu select View > Show styles. The document will change to Word ‘Outline layout’
Select View> Hide styles to remove these from the document view.
NB the document will change to Word ‘Draft layout’. To return to Print layout:
- Regenerate your document with eaDocX, or
- use the View – ‘Print layout’ menu in Word.
