Trial guide #1 – Getting started with eaDocX
Create a Quick Document
The quickest way to get started with eaDocX is to create an eaDocX Quick Document, which allows you to generate a new document with just two clicks. And this is how…
- Select the EA package, element, or diagram you want to print,
- Right click and choose Specialize | eaDocX | Quick Document.
This will generate a new Word document containing the package, element or diagram you selected.
Editing your Quick Document
We’re pretty sure you will want to make some changes – so we’ve recorded some video guides which show how easy it is to create and edit your Quick Documents with eaDocX. Why not take a look?
The same profile controls are used throughout eaDocX, so we recommend you take some time to familiarize yourself with these techniques.

Creating Hybrid documents
It’s easy to add EA model content into an existing Word document. When a single section of information needs to be inserted, just:
- open your existing Word document in eaDocX,
- place the cursor in the place where the EA content is needed, then
- choose an eaDocX section to add.
You can add any type of EA content – diagram, package, report, matrix – and then format it using eaDocX to match the rest of your document.
Making it easy to introduce EA
Enterprise Architect is often just used by a single team in an organization, so having 100% generated documents may be impossible. Now EA content can be regenerated into any Word document whenever it is needed. Making the knowledge in your Enterprise Architect models even more useful.
