Hi,
We’re currently looking at the trial version of eaDocX. Regarding floating licences, do these get checked out when EA is started or when eaDocX is used?
Just looking to verify that if someone has eaDocX installed on their machine:
– they can still start up EA & use it normally even if there are no eaDocX licences available at a particular time (i.e. only the eaDocX functions would be restricted)
– if conversely people are using EA but not eaDocX will they still be using up one of the licences?
Many thanks,
Simon
Hi Simon,
The licence servers for EA and eaDocX are completely independent, so eaDocX floating licences are only checked out when eaDocX is being used.
We set our floating keys to timeout and check back in to the keystore after 10 minutes of inactivity. That is why we say that a single eaDocX floating license can be shared by 3 or 4 users. eaDocX is not automatically assumed to be active just because it is installed on a machine where EA is being used.
So: Yes, EA can be started and used normally even if there are no eaDocX licences available at a particular time, and
No, if users are in EA but not using eaDocX then the eaDocX licences are not being ‘used up’ but are available for other users.
Best Regards
