We have a number of needs that we would really appreciate support from eaXL on.
1) The ability to generate a (multiple hop matrix that navigates more than one relationship. This would be really useful both in Excel (eaXL) and Word. Of course it would have to be for specific source, target and link stereotypes
We try and minimise direct links in the model by using derived ones where possible. We have to go to some lengths to manipulate outputs to establish a matrix for these derived links. (Often we just print tables when a matrix would be far more useful.)
2) The ability to import links into EA as updates to a single-hop eaXL matrix (or via any other mechanism!).
A lot of our architects prefer to work on a spreadsheet first, then expect me to be able to work some magic to get their efforts mirrored in EA.
1) Allowing multi-hop relationships in the eaDocX Matrix Report is reasonable in principal. We’d use the same multi-hop definition as in the regular eaDocX, but we’d need to do some further changes, as the normal multi-hop will print data about the connection it finds: clearly where there are multiple hops, we can’t do this. So, not for 3.4, but first on he list for 3.4.1
– no chage of relationship matrix in eaXL. WAY too hard.
2) 3.4 will allow greatly increased function, using eaXL scripting….coming soon.
BTW- eaDocX development has now been offshored: to Wales!
I missed this answer somewhere along the way. More positive than I expected.
Where in Wales, and does that mean Ian’s moved, or just delegated??
