Home › Forums › eaDocX queries › Prompt for license key and server IP
I have recently upgraded Enterprise Architecture within my organization and within the same Enterprise Architect package, I also included the eaDocX add-in as a dependency so that both will be installed at the same time.
I have Enterprise Architect working, however, for eaDocX, it still prompts for the user to enter the license key as well as the server’s IP address.
Is there a workaround that can be suggested so that it no longer prompts the user for this information to minimize the amount of user interaction?
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
If you are feeling very keen…
..then the IP address and the licence key string are saved in a file called (usually)
c:users(username)AppDataRoamingSparx_Systems_Pty_ltd(long, strange folder name)(EA version number)user.config.
Within that there is an entry like:
I have never tried to insert information directly into this file, mainly because I can’t figure out the strange folder name, so that the file can be found, but I’m sure you could search around to find it: it’s always in the same place, and starts with “DefaultDomain_Path”.
So that’s my best offer: but remember that all eaDocX does is declare some Application Settings, and it’s EA – via the OS – which controls the content of this file. We never write to it directly.
So you MIGHT be able to mess with this user.config file, but you’re way off-piste, so all the normal cautions apply.
