Trial guide #4 – Polishing your documents – advanced and extra features
Multi-hop relationships
Element profiles can contain multi-hop relationships, i.e. not just the elements immediately related to your element type. eaDocX lets you navigate a tree of just the relationship types and related elements in your model.
In the Profile editor Insert menu, select a Related attribute, table or element and follow the tree to the element type, relationship or field(s) to be added.
This applies to both inline (paragraph) or table formatted element types.
Note that multi-hop relationships can also be used to generate multi-hop relationship matrix reports.
Matrix Report Conditional Formatting
As well as adding rows and columns with extra fields of source and target elements, you can apply conditional formatting rules to the relationship cells in matrices to make them easier to read.
Conditional formatting rules can change the color of text or the cell background based on the contents, or even change the value displayed.
Rules apply per matrix and per document, leaving your EA model contents unchanged. Making it easier for your stakeholders to engage with your model contents.
Auto templates
Creating families of documents with standard structure and formatting for fast creation is easy with Auto templates.
Create a document and save it as a template, then it can be applied to other parts of your model (or other models) to generate docuemnts with equivalent content (Note auto templates look for packages following consistent naming conventions)
