Tricks and Tips
Revision Manager and the Interactive Documents it creates are a new and powerful way to engage with your readers.
Here are a few ways to make maximum use of Revision Manager.
Different documents for different people
With eaDocX Interactive Documents, you can create different documents for different people.
For example, you might send a summary of the requirements to senior managers, and just have a simple tables which list them. But for the main stakeholders, you might have another document showing more details of the requirements.
When the documents are reviewed, eaDocX Revision Manager can combine all the feedback from all the reviewers, even if they have reviewed different documents. Provided they are reviewing the same EA elements or diagrams, Revision Manager can show you a view which combines everyone’s feedback, element by element.
Your Final Review
If you generate an Interactive Document, even before you send it to your readers, you will probably review it in Word.
This lets you see the overall structure of the document, as well as using facilities in Word like spelling and grammar checking which aren’t available in EA.
With Interactive Document, you can then make changes directly into your Word document, and then push those changes stright back into EA. No more hunting around the model to find the right element.
Asking for Feedback
If you want to collect some specific information from your readers, you can use Conditional Formatting to highlight some attributes which you want them to add (use the ‘Always’ operator) then they can see exactly where in the document they need to proide their input. This gives them the maximum context, and they can see how their input fits into the rest of the document.
Collaborative reviews
Using Microsoft Teams, several readers can review a document at the same time. If they want, they can even do this in real time, which is a really efficient way to review and document if the reviewers are geographically spread.
As the author, you can then pull everyone’s comments and changes back into EA, quickly and simply.
