Why not, when a document is generated, write something back into the EA model about the generated document, such as it’s title, version etc, plus a hyperlink to he ocation of the model ina file syste, file share, sharepoint etc.
That way, someone reading the model can see the range of documents which have been created for the model
It would be nice if the document was created in the repository. This would allow other users to access the document from within the repository rather than having to locate the document externally.
We thought about this when we first starting building eaDocX, but in the end decided never to write any data back to EA: that way, users who just want to use eaDocX to create documents (and not edit models) can use EALite.
We are thinking about maybe saving some information ABOUT the document back in the model: version, dates etc, with a link to where you have stored the generated document. This would give a measure of visibility of the document, and help to track versions. This would be in a future version of eaDocX, whch won’t then be compatible with EALite.
Thanks
