Hi,
When running eaXL to export classes’ attributes with all possible fields selected in the Columns tab, we get a “Key” column.
Putting a value on a attribute and importing it into EA doesn’t seem to change anything (this value is null when it is exported again). Any idea of what this key column is intended to do?
Thanks
I suggest you look at Tomas Killin’s book Inside EA to see what that column does.
I did it but I cannot find any Key column in the t_attribute table. Do you know the matching EA DB column for this Key? Once identified, I will indeed use the very good Inside EA ebook.
OK – found it!
‘Key’ is used by EA when an ‘Attribute’ is really the definition of a column in a database table.
Where the column is the key of the table, then the ‘key’ = “PK”
It can be very useful with data models. Thanks ! 🙂
