Here’s a strange one
I downloaded and installed the latest version of eaDocX, namely 3.4.2.1 and all is fine and dandy with EA version 10 build 1010
However, when I installed the registered version of EA version 11 RC2, and restart EA and then try to interact with eaDocX, the eaDocX license dialog pops up stating that I do not have a licence
BUT the dialog seems to be “locked”, I cannot interact with it I cannot select a tab to enter the licence, I cannot interact with any of the buttons etc.
The only way out is to use the Task Manager to force EA to close!
Any ideas?
Hi Phil,
This comes about because of the way eaDocX has to store its settings. As a DLL, it seems to rely on a EA location to save stuff, and this location seems to be EA version dependent. Each time you install a new EA version, a new settings location and settings file is setup, so all the old settings – including the licence key – are lost. Looks like the Sparx boys have a secret way of copying the settings across as part of the upgrade process, but there’s no API – of course.
Not sure why eaDocX has reacted so badly though. It should just prompt you to re-enter the key.
