I am using a Script selected from within the EaDocX profile to generate a large document. When generating the document a pop-up regularly appears stating “Script Control. The script you are executing is taking longer than expected to run. Click End to abort the script, or Continue to continue script execution.
Although ignoring the pop-up will allow the script to continue, I would prefer to inhibit the message box entirely. Does anyone have a solution for this?
We don’t seem to have any control over stuff like this. There are other ‘helpful’ timeouts and timeout warnings in COM (the deep techie bits of Windows) which we’ve tried over the years to investigate, but always reach the same dead-end.
When we test the scripted generation, we only use a few fairly simple cases, where the script makes a couple of calls to EA, and does some simple formatting. We never intended it to do serious number crunching, or large numbers of EA calls.
A developer who works closely with us has suggested the following fix:
eaDocX seems to be using MSScriptControl COM component. Changing the code to set timeout of the script to “-1” will make script run without showing the pop-up message. See this link http://www.jose.it-berater.org/scripting/msscript/iscriptcontrol_timeout.htm
Are you able to confirm whether this change would resolve the issue and if so, whether it can be implemented possibly as a switch?
Thanks.
