Sorry about the delay in reply.
I suspect you are not doing anything wrong – do a quick test with a class element and that will verify your procedure works.
However, the simple answer is that when we included the ability to output attributes (and operations) it was driven by class elements (and data tables), hence at present the code only allows attribute output from these elements. I did a quick check and was able to output Use Cases attributes. I’ll discuss with the boss about what level of support for other elements he would like.

Adrian SupportParticipantHi
Just to confirm the steps to output project issues (not issue elements) using eaDocx (eaXL) is to:
- Open an excel workbook in eaXL
- On the Elements Tab – select the “Show project element” button near the bottom of the panel and then select “Project Issue”. You can only select one type of element for project items.
- On the Columns Tab – select the desired columns for output
- Press the export to XL button (near Top Left of the eaDocX window)
You should then see a list of all the project issues.
Note EA also has Issue elements which are treated as normal elements. They cannot be output together. If this doesn’t help please provide more information on your problems.

Adrian SupportParticipantJust in case you are looking at this thread and wondering about the solution.
The problem was with the known issue associated with grabbing focus for the Excel window.
“F2” worked fine.- This reply was modified 11 years, 5 months ago by Adrian Support.
Adrian SupportParticipantHi Mary Louise
I assume this is a new issue and previously eaXL has been working fine for you. As detailed in the help you often have to push Excel into edit mode – using “F2” or double-clicking on the cell.
So to help us look into the issue – can you advise what version of eaDocX you have installed – its under “extensions | eaDocX | About eaDocX” (latest is 3.3.9.0) and which operating system version & language – and if not on the latest we would suggest you upgrade.
Is the problem repeatable? if so is there a specific set of operations?
Early in the development (a while ago now) we identified some potential issues with Excel not providing focus to all of the UI, and this could result in the symptoms you described, however we believe we have addressed that some time ago.
BTW: In the past we simply switched worksheets and that normally gave Excel a prod! Worst case opened a new workbook seemed to give Excel a bigger prod. But hopefully none of this needed!

Adrian SupportParticipantThanks for clarification – I guessed that a few other items could come onto the list.
I’ll see what we can do and hopefully include in a future release.Adrian SupportParticipantHi Heather
Interesting idea – just to clarify before my brain goes into solution mode – you just want to edit the diagram properties that you see on the “general” tab under diagram properties? And none of the other stuff!
And then see what the boss thinks about it

eaDocx SupportAdrian SupportParticipantHi
Thanks for your feedback and glad that you are finding the tool useful.
With respect to the output of tagged values we currently assume that they are string values and hence do not support the formatting that could be achieved through the use of the type information used with “Predefined Structured Types”. Support for these types is on our wish list and your suggestion of setting the hyperlink within the cell for “URL” types would make sense.
Keep an eye out for this support in our release notes.
Best regards
Adrian SupportParticipantHi
Thanks for the report – in adding the Excel context menu to diagram elements there was a use case check missed (this will be resolved in the next release).
However all should work fine whe using the menu selection from the Project Browser.
The fact that you get “String” indicates to me that you are seeing the type row (3 – which is normally hidden) and for some reason row 2 (which contains the column name) is hidden or the size reduced. See attached screenshots to see:
1. The normal export row1 and 3 hidden, Row 2 has the column name and Row 4 is the first row of data.
2. A view with Row 3 expanded – which is where the column type is storedI’m sorry to say that you have also highlighted another small feature – which prevent the output of subelement information other than element, attributes, methods – this will be resolved for the next release. And you should have output options similar to the attached screenshot – which I assume covers your effor time (expected hours?).

Adrian SupportParticipantHi,
Thanks for this – clearly no references to the documents. What concerns me is the fact that the filenames are now blank; in my case what I saw was an incorrect path.
Do you have a back up from an earlier version of the model. If so, firstly taking a copy (!!) just run the eaXL output to see if the filenames are present before you do any document management stuff. In any case, we will take a look at this – I assume you made no other changes to the models, and that you purely openned with the new version of eaDocX; let us know if that assumption is invalid.
Thanks
Adrian SupportParticipantHi
Had a quick look and probably not sure I see exactly the same as that you illustrate.
Can I check:
1. What version of eaDocX you are using
2. Is there a small example you could put in an xmi and email to us (support@eadocx.com)- it always helps to be working on the same items.Regards

Handn’t though about that – can you drop me an email and I can then respond privately rather than on our public forum with the way forward.
Thanks

Adrian SupportParticipantHi,
I believe all you need to do go onto the site and register (go to the Login/Logout link at top of page and you will see a register link in the pop-up). When you have the account set up you will then be able to login and see the customer download option.
Let me know if you have further problems.

Adrian SupportParticipantHi
In the program install location there is a file “Readme.txt” which summarises key changes in each release.
However, I see your point and I’ll pass the suggestion to those responsible for the web site / mailshots.

Adrian SupportParticipantHi
If you go to the Customer downloads page – there is a link to the current version towards the bottom of the page with the link name of “eaDocX Full 3.3.1.1.msi”Screenshot attached.
Hope that helps.

Adrian SupportParticipantHi
Done some tests this morning with V3.2.8.0 and moving to V3.3.1.1 and I haven’t been able to repeat your problem.
So be useful to know which 3.2.xxx version you have been using – hopefully I can install the same version for testing.
FYI: The only problem I experienced when moving between VM’s running different versions was that ended up in the wrong directory – which involved editing the files property of the documentVersion artifacts. I assume in your case the DM directory hasn’t changed.
In terms of the issue with not appearing in the model- I assume you mean in the “Document details | Versions tab” – in which case it implies that the document management settings have changed.
Could you send a screenshot of:
1. what you see in the Document details | version
2. Output from using eaXL showing the filename properties – in my model I have set the document management to use the package dm, in which it manages the document versions.
3. Repository settins (eaDocX | Settings | Repository settings)I hope the attached screenshots which illustrate these screenshots for my test model.
Any information that you think could be relevant would be useful and may give me a clue.
Many thanks
Adrian
