    Very strange.
What was the last change on the machine?
I’d try un-installing eadocx, and all other addins – Sparx are famously un-interested as soon as you mention you might have an addin running.

Did you try exporting the Profile from (A) and importing it into (B).
Or, just save the (A) template as a new Word document, and rename it.

If I understand correctly, you want to print a table of methods, and, for each method, a table of its parameters.
eaDocX doesn’t allow tables-inside-tables: the user interface to define the formatting is just too complicated.
So if you want a table of the lowest-level thing (parameters) then the parent element type (“method” in this case ) MUST be printed ‘inline’.
This has always been the case for eaDocX, and there will never be a fix.
Using a generator will always mean that there will be restrictions on what can be printed, othersise eaDocX would have a user interface like, for example, EA….:-(

The underlying issue here – about use of >96 DPI screens – has been outstanding for several years. The fix is to move all the eaDocX UI over to a new UI framework, and use the support in that framework to deliver a DPI-independent UI. Moving ALL the UI over to this new way of doing things is taking a lot of time, as it’s about 95% of the eaDocX code. And as we have a not-very-ideal work-around, it’s only progressing slowly.

If you create a Quick Document for this part of the model, do you see any output?
If not, please add an XMI of some model content intothis item, and I will check it. Or, if there is some part of the EAExample model which does the same thing, point me to where it is in that model.

I think the only way to make eaDocX forget the layout settings is to re-install, but I haven’t tested this use case.

Change will be fully implemented over the next few releases.
Most organisations don’t seem to want, or even allow, documents which contain Macros, as they are a known security threat.
Sorry, but this change is not a priority.

Change has been made – will be in next release (after 5.0.2.8)

This error happens when eaDocX first opens-up the document you chose to be an auto-template.
The specific error conditions are either:

    • Unable to open an instance of Word. This might be because you don’t have Word installed, or Word is not installed correctly.
    • It can open Word, but the document does not have a valid eaDocX profile. Try re-creating the auto-template document, and try again

If you enable the eaDocx Trace (Specialize/eaDocX/Help/Enable trace) trace, then you should be able to see which error you have:
    – if you see just ‘Opening: , then the probel is with Word
    – if you see “Opening
and then “Examining Document” then the error is with the Profile in the auto-template document.

If this error happens a lot, then you you may get a lot of invisible Word.exe instances, and eventually, Word will just give up, and you won’t get a valid Word instance even if everything starts to work OK. So remember to keep deleting the Word.exe instances using Task Manager.

[thanks for keeping my name out of the Sparx forum thread 🙂 ]

Why can’t your client upgrade their eadocX version? This is why we have new releases, so we can keep up with changes to OS and Office.
Also, assuming I could re-build with a newer .NET version, how would they download it?
They can only do that if their licences are in support, in which case, why not download the latest eaDocX version, which has all kinds of other fixes as well ?

Sorry – I have no plans to make V4 or V5 available with old version of .net.
According to Microsoft, .net V2 was shpped with Windows XP, and support ended in 2012.
.net 4 arrived in 2016, which is still 4 years ago.

None of which helps you. So you are stuck on the old releases of eaDocX.
Latest releases of eaSDocX and Model Expert (V5 and V2.1) use .net 4.5.1

The new ‘exporting’ screen will stay until all the data has been exported. Once everything is exported, it will go away. If it’s still there, maybe eaXL is still working ?
Once it’s gone, you’ll see the familiar page where you can choose element types etc.

Did you change computers? May be an issue with high-DPI screens.
If so, change text size parameter in Windows to 100%, and re-start EA.
Also, think about inslalling latest eaDocX version – now V5

What screen resolution are you using? I don’t mean the number of pixels – I’m looking for the DPI rating. Historically, this has always been 96DPI, but some recent laptops (like MS Surface Pro) use higher DPI ratings, and cause all kinds of issues.
