eadocX SupportParticipant
So we’re using the same eaDocX version, adding the glossary in the same way, and both have a ‘Term’ profile. And both creating glossary entries in the same way.
So what’s different?
Is this a new .EAp file, or are there any restrictions on it due to EA security?eadocX SupportParticipantMysterious.
How did you add the Glossary?eadocX SupportParticipantplease can you download the latest eaDocX version, and re-check that the issue is still there.
eadocX SupportParticipantIs there a Profile for ‘Term’ in your document ? If not, create one.
Please can you tell me the exact configuration you are running, and the step you are doing, so I can try to reproduce the issue.eadocX SupportParticipantI’ve just re-run the test cases for this, as well as creating some new ones, and it all seems to work for me, which is annoying.
What I did was:
(all done on PostgreSQL running under Windows 10)- Started the database and EA
- Connected EA to PG using ODBC. Using PGAdmin v1.22
- Don’t know which PG version I’m using – where to find this ?
- Found some Glossary entries in EA (EA v13)
- created a Quick Document from the test EA Package. This package just has some text in the description field, which uses some of the terms in the glossary
- Added a new ‘Glossary’ section to the new document
- re-generated – glossary looks ok
- Added new term to the glossary, and added the test o the description. Re-generated OK
Probably not a SQL error, because we use the Sparx API to fetch terms from the database.
eadocX SupportParticipantThis will be fixed in V4.
Not date for this yet – still in developmenteadocX SupportParticipantThis feature has been replaced by the option to add a new section to a document – when used from EA.
This will auto-generate a Profile for the new content. I will remove this from the Help.eadocX SupportParticipantSounds like a glitch in Excel – never seen this before. Can it be recovered using the Office recovery mechanism?
(Perhaps this happens every time there’s a solar eclipse? 🙂 )eadocX SupportParticipantI have put a new version on the website – 3.9.5.2 – which I think fixes the problem. Please can you give it a try?
eadocX SupportParticipantLooks like the problem is with your Heading2 definition, which is making everything Upper-case.
This is confusing eaDocX when it’s making bookmarks, as it’s comparing a lower-case GUID with an upper-case one, and not finding a match.
Quick fix is to change the heading to use normal text (not ‘all caps’) and I will investigate making a change to eaDocX. This will need some thought, as this is a complicated bit of the code, and this might be a disruptive change.
Sorry about thiseadocX SupportParticipantForget the Phone Home problem – not related.
I suggest to investigate the differences between the two templates.eadocX SupportParticipantI can’t suggest an alternative solution, but we are currently designing eaDocX V4, and I will add this to this backlog of requirements.
I think if there was a quick way to view, create and edit this data, then maybe more people would use this bit of EA, so we will certainly look at it.eadocX SupportParticipantAre you trying to edit all the resources of all the elements at the same time?
If so, eaDocX/XL can’t do that – it will only let you edit the Resources of one element at a time.
If yo right-click on a single element (which has some resources) then you’ll be able to edit them.
We took this decision because this is a not a very frequently used bit of EA – few modellers seem to use the element features such as resources, issues etc. If we did support it, then the user interface for eaDocX would be more complicated, and we’re trying hard to create a simple experience. Sorry.eadocX SupportParticipantThe data item you need is called ‘Allow Duplicates’ by eaDocX, just because that’s what it’s called in the EA database. The EA user interfaces changes that to say ‘not null’. We probably need to change the eaDocX documentation to reflect this. Sorry
eadocX SupportParticipantThe Phone Home error is not related to you issue.
Sounds like something is happening in Word. Does the user have a full Word installation?
Will it create any hyperlinks ? Can you create hyperlinks to bookmarks in the document – manually ? -
