How large is ‘large’? Shouldn’t make a difference, but ….

When eaDocX warns you about the change of repository, there is an option to continue.
This is so that if, for example, you have moved some EA stuff from one repository to a new one, then your document will be OK, even though the repository has changed – the new stuff will be in the new repository.
The check is simply to warn you that you MAY be about to make a mistake.

in reply to: how to generate multiple docs with same template #8422

Putting-on my Business Analyst hat, I’m not sure I like the idea of having to maintain 200 documents! I would batch them up into groups.
With my eaDocX hat on, simple answer is “you can’t”.
You can use ‘Auto Templates’ (see https://store.eadocx.com/help/index.html?auto_templates.htm) to create a family of documents where only one section is different between documents, but not where there are multiple section each of which is different.

Please can you paste a picture of what the Inspector looks like, and I’ll get someone to look at it.

There are just WAY too many Word options to make this practicable: exact page size (A4 vs USA sizes), heading font size, length of heading text, font size of diagram text, length of diagram text. And those are just the ones I can think of.

The only way to created a bulletted list is to use eaDocX scripting. But there is an example which does exactly this – see the help.

This is a fairly common error which you get when installing EA add-ins – something has gone wrong with the install, but this is the first clue EA gives you.
It’s so common that someone has written a debug aid, to help us understand what has happened, and which is available from the Sparx Community website:
    http://community.sparxsystems.com/community-resources/772-ea-installation-inspector
I’m not an expert in that particular tool (but I know a man who is, ‘cos he wrote it..) but I suggest downloading and running it, and see what it says.

If I understand you correctly, the your first screen-shot shows two different ways of saying the same (similar?) thing:
    – one where you have an Actor, linked to a Process, linked to a use case
    – one where the Actor is linked to the Use Case, and the Process is a ‘conveyed item’ of that link.

Assuming that this is true, I’m not sure this is what ‘Conveyed Item’ if for. Just because it’s allowed in EA doesn’t make it a good way to do things. I don’t know if UML allows for conveyed items on any connector type apart from ‘Information Flow’. I think if I saw your second type of model, I would be confused 🙂

What exactly is the problem with the first way of doing things, with an Actor, linked to a process/operation, linked to a Use Case? This is how I always model this problem, and eaDocX is happy to model ‘multi-hop’ relationships like this.

This is a very strange situation, and may be a bug in EA.
I have submitted a question to the EA forum, and I’m waiting for a reply.

We currently do not support Excel 2016. (as stated in the System Requirements )
Microsoft changed the internal programming model of Excel before, from 2010 to 2013, which meant that external applications like eaDocX could no longer embed Excel inside their windows.
Now they have done it again from 2013 to 2016, but they have changed something else as well. We have looked at this very hard, and you would expect, but so far we cannot find a solution.
We realize this is a real pain for you, and we are still looking for solutions, but this is a largely undocumented bit of Excel, so it takes time to investigate. We have no estimate for a solution.

Please can you email an empty document which has these styles to support@eadocx.com, and i will test it.

There is a restriction in the MS Word API, which eaDocX uses, which means that it doesn’t allow paragraph style names which have spaces in them, so “KOP 1” will not work, but “Kop1” should be ok.
Please can you try that ?

    Hi Erik,
There are some settings where you can override the defaults for headings and other styles.
They are in Options and Settings / Inline text settings.
There you’ll find all the default styles for headings, and you can replace them with your own choices for headings and normal text.
These are then saved in the settings of the document.
To use them for all of your documents, just do a ‘save as’ the first document, and all the settings will be copied across to the new document.
I hope this answers your question.

Sorry that we did not respond quickly enough for you – i missed your last posting, as we’re in India at the moment, so not getting internet all the time.
I have looked into this some more, and there is certainly something strange going on with eaDocX and EA DeploymentSpecifications – this is not a part of EA which I know well, so I’m learning as well.
I will look into it some more when I get back to UK on Monday. If you need more time to evaluate eaDocX, then please email support@eadocx.com, and we can give you another licence key.
