We reduce the number of bookmarks to only those needed by document cross-references in order to make the document faster to generate. This is really important for large documents.
Using the element name as the basis for a bookmark name would cause lots of duplicates in a large document, as Word restricts bookmarks to 13 characters. So, eaDocX generates a numerical hash from the GUID, which is usually unique.
Why do you need to use the the eaDocX bookmarks anyway ?- This reply was modified 10 years, 6 months ago by eadocX Support.
eadocX SupportParticipantHi Phil,
This must be a new ‘feature’ of Word 2013, as we took great care NOT to so this when we first created eaDocX with Office 2010.
Nothing has changed in eaDocX to do this, but I’ll have a look to see if there is anything we can do to Word to stop it. I agree – not friendly behavior.eadocX SupportParticipantHi Milosz,
In the eaDocX ‘Preview’ pane, right-click on the diagram icon, and select ‘diagram and contents’. This should do what you want.eadocX SupportParticipantHi Dina,
I’m not at my desk at the moment, so I’m slightly in the dark, but in an Element Report, there’s an Advanced’ tab, which lets you filter results by value, but I can’t remember if this supports tagged values as well as normal attributes.
If not, then it should…eadocX SupportParticipantHa Ha Ha. We’re enjoying your sense of humor!
eadocX SupportParticipantThis was such a GREAT idea, that it just made it into the latest eaDocX maintenance release!
So, it’s now available in v3.4.3.0 from the website.
Note that whilst adding hyperlinks to the ‘source’ (the left-hand column) works well, because of the way Word creates the table, using hyperlinks in the ‘target’ (top row) doesn’t look as good, as the row is too tall.
A great way to use is is to add the hyperlinks as the source of the matrix report, then let eaDocX add the detail of each element as a cross-reference report (Element Report, type ‘cross-reference’). This will find each hyperlink from the Matrix Report, and print the details of only those elements which appear in the matrix ‘source’ (or target, is you REALLY want to).
Thanks for the suggestion!eadocX SupportParticipantnot at the moment, but it’s a great idea!
I’ll have a look…eadocX SupportParticipantThere’s an attribute available, for both Attribute and Method/Operation elements, to print their Element Feature. Try that and see what happens.
eadocX SupportParticipantI’ve just had a play about with these heading level styles, and I can get all kinds of strange effects 🙁
All that eaDocX is doing when you change the default heading styles is to add a class=YourStyleName to the HTML which we pass to Word.
Mostly, this seems to work, but Word Paragraph styles are famous for creating strange results in native Word, and more so via their HTML API.
We were asked by a customer to add this feature, but it’s not one which we see being used by many people – for exactly this reason.
Sorry, but I can’t be of any more help.eadocX SupportParticipantThere’s a feature in Word – I can’t remember where – where it can display the paragraph style which it is using for each paragraph, at the left-hand side of the page – what Style does word think it’s showing ?
eadocX SupportParticipantNot that I know of.
The package we use for the Crypto is from LogicNP.com, and it’s called CryptoLicencing for .NET (2011): you might see if they have anything to offereadocX SupportParticipantDid you make the ‘1 – Introduction’ text use the SP_H style?
eadocX SupportParticipantThanks for these details.
I can’t seem to create a Win8 test Virtual Machine under Win7, so I’ve ordered a new Win8 machine which will arrive later this week. I’ll be able to test it early next week, (there’s the UK EA User group on Friday).eadocX SupportParticipantThat was the best we could do, since the tab character isn’t supported by HTML, and that’s what we pass to MS Word.
TAB characters now print correctly in memo Tagged Vales, and also in normal element Notes fields: where do you think they aren’t displayed correctly still?- This reply was modified 10 years, 6 months ago by eadocX Support.
