Have you tried printing the InstanceClassifier variable? That’s where I think you’ll find what you need.

At the moment (eaDocX 3.3, and the forthcoming 3.4) no.
Inserting these captions is surprisingly hard for eaDocX, as it makes calls directly into Word, which is both slow and complicated!
As for the title of the table, where would ‘Use Cases’ come from in the model ?

    Ha!
Now I look at the code, it seems like if you use the ‘memo’ data type for your Tagged Value, EA will then let you define a much longer value for the TV. This is INSTEAD OF the regular TV value.
So, if eaDocX sees that you’ve made the data type of your TV ‘memo’, when you print the TV, eaDocX will print the Tagged Value Notes, not the Tagged Value value.
    So no change needed, I think….OK ?

Is this a new issue, or a continuation of the last one? Are you getting a NullRefException?

I’m out of the office at the moment, so can’t see EA or the eaDocX code.
From memory, eaDocX doesn’t support printing of the notes of a tagged value. It always seems a very strange EA feature, to define a tagged value, give it a value, then have notes about the value of the value. So, as so few people use it, we don’t support it. But I will look at including it in the next release.

What about the ‘inline’ bits which are bullets or numbered lists, which get printed as part of the ‘notes / description’ of an element? Would they need to be in a different style as well ? This would mean 3 x styles to specify for each combination. Or we could just use a single style for all 3 ?

    Ah – I think I see where you’re going with this….
We currently let you specify a Word TABLE style for each Type/Stereotype combination. Are you asking for the same facility for INLINE formatting?
To keep it symmetric, we’d let you choose a Word Paragraph style for any type/stereotype, on the ‘Inline formatting’ screen.
If we did this, the new style would be used to format the Attribute name and Attribute value, and would be the same style for ALL attributes of that element type/stereotype.
Is this what you want ?

eaDocX can already use different Word paragraph styles for the Notes field of diagrams: it’s specified in the ‘Diagrams’ part of eaDocX Options and Settings.
I sympathize with your issue with DOORS: EA seems allow all kinds of strange formatting to be imported into Notes fields, and whilst eaDocX tries to make sense of what it finds, sometimes it’s just too strange….
We’re just completing work on v3.4 which, with the new ‘scripting’ feature, should give you much more control over the details of formatting, where you have requirements like this which fall outside of ‘regular’ eaDocX function.

The eaDocX Document Management feature was not designed with EA HTML publication in mind, so i’m not surprised there is no compatibility. We have experimented with our own HTML generator, but as eaDocX is focussed on generating Word documents from EA, this isn’t an area where I think we’ll be investing.

You can already set the Word Paragraph styles for normal text, un-numbered and numbered-bullets, and headings: which other styles would you like ?

Either use the ‘Classes…’ built in profile, or the Sub-elements / Operations option.

    Thanks Patrick,
We have tried a couple of time to make this work, as it’s one of the very best features of the EA native HTML output, and a very user-friendly way of navigating around a document.
Where we reached a dead-end was in finding a way, in a graphic in a Word document, to make some of the areas ‘hot’ i.e. having hyperlinks attached to them, as you can do with HTML graphics. We already have all the code to do the geometry for figuring out which parts of the image relate to which EA elements, and a way of relating those to elements in your document, but it’s that first bit we can’t crack. If you know of a way, please let me know, and it will be in eaDocX as soon as we can code it!

This is in the development backlog for v3.4, #165. Plan is to release it in a Beta in Jan/Feb 2014.

These are some of the attributes of Element Tests, which you can already print.
When you create the Profile for an element which has these tests, just Sub-Elements, and choose ‘Element Tests’. This will automatically add some attributes for Element Tests, and you can add/remove/edit the list of attributes, as you would for other Profiles.
