I suspect the answer is in the dialect of SQL which I’m using. I have switches which make it SQlServer/Oracle/etc flavour, but I suspect changing the driver won’t make much difference.
Maybe move to another DBMS? (ouch!)eadocX SupportParticipantAh – I think I see the problem.
I have never tested eaDocX with PostgreSQL, so it’s very likely there will be errors. Sorry about this, but its the first time in 2 years that I’ve come across this DBMS, and we have no plans to add support for it to eaDocX.
Sorry, but testing time is limited, so we’ll continue to test with EAP, SQLserver, Oracle and mySQLeadocX SupportParticipantWhat environment are you running?
OS version, VM ?
If you tried this on EA 1009, and its OK here, so it looks like an environmental thing. We get the EA Package structure using a single DB call which lists all the packages, and it’s this which is breaking.
The fact that it also breaks when you try to get a list of EA Relationships Matrix reports also suggests its DBMS-related.- This reply was modified 11 years, 1 month ago by eadocX Support.
eadocX SupportParticipantDoes this happen on all your models? I’m wondering if there’s something unusual about this one model?
eadocX SupportParticipantHi Norman,
The only filtering which eaDocX can do is to suppress all elements of a particular stereotype. This isn’t supported for diagrams (yet – should be in v3.4 early next year, but again at stereotype level, not using the value of an attribute).
I’ll think about a more generic ‘do not print’ rule though.eadocX SupportParticipantReleased early, in V3.3.13, now available on the website.
eadocX SupportParticipantAlready built and ready to go in v 3.4. Has some other dependencies, so can’t be done before then.
eadocX SupportParticipantInteresting. You’re using two bits of eaDocX which we have never tested together. The SQL query has been tested with Word, but never with Excel.
Can you get ANY kind of simple SQL query to work?eadocX SupportParticipantI’m still using 1008 – didn’t know there was a new release!
I’ll take a lookeadocX SupportParticipantI certainly do!
If you have eaDocX Corporate Edition, then you can directly embed Excel named ranges or named charts into a word document.
Each time you generate the document, eaDocX will then update the excel spreadsheet(s) and optionally run a named macro, which you can use to do the calculations.
Have a look at the Help, and the examples on the website.
Yours is exactly the use case this was designed for!eadocX SupportParticipanteaDocX does list ‘children’ as one of its ‘relationship types’ along with the real ones. I have not tried to access Ports of other elements using this, but it’s worth a try.
BTW – really don’t think you should take any more exams, unless you share some of your existing ones with me: you can’t possibly need them all….eadocX SupportParticipanteadocX just uses the TV list from the API, not direct from the DB, and, in the case of TVs, these can be different in some circumstances: there are lots of posts on the EA forums about this. If you have a specific issue, please get the latest eaDocX version, and try with that, then if it’s still strange, send an XMI and a little test document to support@eadocx.com and I will investigate further.
There is a Trace function with eaDocX, but, in the interest of speed, we don’t log everything. Enable the trace from the main menu, extensions, eaDocX, Help, or from the Application settings. Make sure to log ‘All’.
We will contact you separately about obtaining login credentials to get new versions.eadocX SupportParticipantI understand.
There is currently no option to do this, but I will add it to the list for v3.4.
(new backlog item #145)eadocX SupportParticipantHi Doug,
I’ll try end help: we’re better better at covering-up the strange bits of EA.
Can you mail be a little XMI, with some ideas of how you would like it to behave, and I’ll add it to the do-do list for v3.4 (now in development).
Because I’m just a BA, I don’t tend to use the bits of EA which deal with ports, so that’s probably why there’s currently not much special support for them.eadocX SupportParticipant@bergtwvd – try the option for ‘Word Style for diagram picture’. This controls the Word style for the image, and can be used, for example, to centre or right-justify the image, or not have any space below or above the picture.
