ParticipantI thought that the default for elements was that they don’t print their children. Only when you select ‘Children’ as a sub-element attribute will the children print, so I’m a bit confused.
If you export the eaDocX profile from your document, then i’ll have a look at it next week.eadocX Support
ParticipantBTW – I agree with your point about eaDocX not warning you where there’s a serious error in the Generator. I’ll look into fixing this as well.

ParticipantI’ve tried to reproduce the error, but no luck so far.
Can you export the eaDocX Profile (XML) file and send it to me? I’m just using one of the built-in Profiles, and it will be different from yours.
If you could send an XML of the little bit of your model (with the confidential bits taken out) to support@eadocx.com, then I’ll have a much better chance to reproduce the problem.

ParticipantThe current detailed roadmap alternatives for 1H2013 (eaDocX v3.3) are already on the website: please add your your vote to the immediate ‘what next’.
As for items beyond that, like all good software builders, we’ll be guided by the market.
A few things which we know we have to do are support the new Office 2013 product, which Microsoft should make generally available in 1Q 2013. We are already looking at early release versions.
Beyond that, it’s hard to say in detail.
eaDocX is being used in more & more places, and in some ways we didn’t expect, which are leading us to think about developments which were never in the original plan. Also, we need to respond to changes which are made by Sparx in EA, and they never disclose ANYTHING about what they are going to do next.
I’d be surprised if in 3 years we don’t have some kind of ‘cloud’ support, though that is highly dependent on what Sparx do in this area. We also have plans to make more of the ‘HTML Generator’ which we plan for V3.3, which might (though this is not a commitment) include editable documents, which is what customers are already asking for. We’re also thinking about how to make it easier to maintain the quality of your EA models, using some of the same ideas which are already in eaDocX (monitoring the meta-model).
Bottom line is that we have a development team for whom we have funding for the next 12 months, and who we still plan to be employing in 3 years time: what they will be doing is less clear.
Sorry I can’t be clearer, but this is a fast-changing market, and we plan to change with it.eadocX Support
ParticipantI agree, it’s an unnecessary restriction.
I’m just re-writing the Settings mechanism prior to R3.3, so I’ll add this to the list of things which will then be settable using the new function.

ParticipantI’ll look into a way to get multiple-sort criteria as more general solution, not just in the matrix report.
I’ll see what’s possible for 3.3,but it’s already looking crowded.
I guess Christmas is cancelled.
Again.-

ParticipantUpdate which fixes this is now available on the website as 3.2.8.6.
I have added Attributes & operations to Components & Interfaces (EA allows attributes on Interfaces???) and attributes on Data types.eadocX Support
ParticipantI’ve just checked, and you’re right (but you knew that..). Seems that, with a little fiddling, EA will let you put attributes and operations on almost ANY element!
Looks like I’ll have the relax the eaDocX meta-model even more. I’ll update this post when I’ve added the fix.
Well spotted!
Thanks

Participant..Also the User Interface error is quite deliberate: if the a user closes Word from within Word (as opposed to closing it from eaDocX, which is fine) then this causes EA to fail!
This is a ‘feature’ of the Word API, so we thought it was safer to blank-out the Word ‘close’ button.eadocX Support
ParticipantWould you want this to be specified for each Document (i.e. the parent of the versions) or higher-up, in the EA Package to which they belong?
Or
Take the location from wherever you stored the first version?
What would be most useful ?eadocX Support
ParticipantIs it possible for you to send a small .XMI and document to support@eadocx.com, and I will try to reproduce the error .

ParticipantWe have it switched to many votes per user, but only one per IP address, to prevent SPAM.

ParticipantTry this link which seems to work OK

ParticipantThanks for this – we’ll have a look at fixing in the next release.

ParticipantDid you try the installation verification test ? This just uses the low- and high-level EA and eaDocX interfaces.
From the EA main menu, select Extensions | eaDocX | Help | Check Installation. Then let me know what happens.
Sounds like something in your Word installation is new to eaDocX.
