I think we’ll have to leave this feature, until we have an idea of where the data will come from.

    Hmmm.
    I can’t find them either.
Can you remember what they said ?
    Sorry we lost them 🙁

Still working on it. We have started by creating some new videos, about eaDocX and eaXL, which are now on the website.

I checked in EA again, and the reason we have to do some strange things is that, when you create an element in EA, and give it a name of ‘Class’, then the name is set to blank. Error in the EA API

took me a while, but I finally found out what’s happening.
In the meta-model, there is an extra space character in front of ‘Class’, so that it’s called
‘ Class’, which is the reason for the incorrect ‘class not found’.
In the short-term, if you just remove the extra space from the meta-model, or the reference MM (or both) then all will be well. I will fix this error in the next release.
I’ve checked, and it’s only ‘Class’ meta-types which do this – everything else seems fine. Probably a ‘funny’ from EA…

    Hi Olivier
I’m right in the middle of creating some new videos to help you get started with eaDocX, but they won’t be ready for a few days.
They will mostly start by create an eaDocX ‘Quick Document’, and that is how I suggest you start as well:
    – pick a package in your model – not one with 1000s of elements/diagrams (otherwise the documents will take some time to generate) – just a small one.
    – just right-click and choose eaDocX/Quick Document.
This will show you quite a few eaDocX features, and the help (which I’m also updating 🙁 ) has more details.
If you get stuck, please email me at support at eaDocX dot com

eaDocX no longer supports .doc files – only .docX – I think this may be the problem.

eaDocX just submits the query SQL to EA API for it to run, because if we get EA to execute the query, it runs OK, but doesn’t give back the results. We have obviously asked several times for this feature, but no luck so far.
We know there are differences in handling of SQL through the Sparx API, vs the same SQL through the EA user interface – looks like this is another which doesn’t work.

    Hi Neil,
If it’s any consolation, I had to try this to see how I made it work….
My test case was 3 Classes, Class1..3, with an ‘information flow’ relationship between 1 and 2, passing Class3 as an information item.
Created a Quick Document of the package, then added an additional column to the table of classes. When you choose ‘Information Flow’ as the Relationship type, then you get two additional fields at the bottom of the ‘attributes of the Relationship’ drop-down: I chose ‘Information Items – Hyperlinked’ which then give me a new column for Class1, which has a hyperlink to Class3.
Takes much longer to type than to do!

    Hi Tom.
I know about this one, assuming that you, like me, have a laptop which usually runs in a 150% font mode.
This seems to mess-up all the sizes of all the windows, and it’s what i’m working on right now.
For some demo last week, I just had to run it in ‘100%’ mode, which isn’t ideal, as I can’t then read the text!
I’ll post again when I have an answer.

The way I usually fix this is use Word to create a running footer/header made from a current heading. If the header is a package name, then this gives the reader some context.
Or, put the parent package name somewhere in the Profile for each element.

Its was requirement #1 of eaDocX that the same thing will print in the same way throughout your document.
…but we modified that a bit, so each Element Reports can use different formatting from the rest of the document. Have you tried that ?

    Hi Guillaume,
Something has changed from EA13 to 14 in the Sparx add-in API, and I have not found out what.
But eaDocX V4 works fine with EA14, so if you want to use EA14, then just download the new version. Production V4 is ready for download.
    Thanks
