There’s really no good reason why this function isn’t available – we just forgot. I’m adding it to the next 2.1 beta now….should be ready by then end of the day – assuming you can’t think of any more for me to do…. 😉
ThankseadocX SupportParticipantYou a are entirely correct. 🙂 This was me trying to help. Will certainly fix in the next beta.
ThankseadocX SupportParticipantHi Joerg,
I’ll take your comments one at a time.– the ‘Figure’ word: you’re quite right – it’s us Engligh speaker trying to take over the world. I’ll make it a configurable, application-level setting in the next 2.1 Beta (later this week)
– Styles for Diagram Notes: I thought about this as I was doing 2.1, but wasn’t sure it was useful – clearly it is! I’ll also try to get this into the next Beta
– Diagram Notes: I thought this was printed? I’ll have a look. It seems to me that you should be able to configure whether or not diagram notes are printed, so I’ll have a look at this. I’ll update this thread when I’ve found out.
frohe Weihnachten
eadocX SupportParticipantExcellent – thanks. I didn’t think to look for ConveyedItems – I was looking for Information Items.
Now that I know where it is, I’ll add it to the ‘to do’ list for eaDocX 2.2 – ‘fraid it missed the cut for 2.1eadocX SupportParticipantI’ve a good look around both the EA Automation interface, and the EA data model, and can’t find where they keep this information. I think that’s why we haven’t included it so far!
I’ll keep looking – do you have any ideas where they hide it ?eadocX SupportParticipantConfession time; I’ve been an EA user for 7+ years, but I’ve never used this bit!
But it looks like it’s useful, and clearly you’re using it, so I’ll add it to the list of requirements for eaDocX 2.2eadocX SupportParticipantWe thought about this when we first starting building eaDocX, but in the end decided never to write any data back to EA: that way, users who just want to use eaDocX to create documents (and not edit models) can use EALite.
We are thinking about maybe saving some information ABOUT the document back in the model: version, dates etc, with a link to where you have stored the generated document. This would give a measure of visibility of the document, and help to track versions. This would be in a future version of eaDocX, whch won’t then be compatible with EALite. Thanks
eadocX SupportParticipantAh- as I suspected – I can’t find anywhere the list of default Word styles for the different national languages.
I’ve now changed v2.1 to check first if the “Normal” style exists, and if not, I don’t specify one. This seems to pick up the default.V2.1 will be available for Beta testing on Monday 5th December 2011 for existing customers, and later in the month for 30 day free download for trial customers. If you’d like to check that 2.1 fixes your problem, then send your email address to enquiries at eadocx dot com, and we’ll get you a copy of 2.1
Thanks for finding this one: I realise there is a strong EA community who don’t use UK/US English, but these ones are really hard for use to find, as there are so many langages to check.
Thanks
eadocX SupportParticipantHi Peter326,
There are a few reasons why this might not work: the most obvious one looking at the code is where your Word document doesn’t contain a style called “Normal” (initial capital letter).
We thought this was the name of the built-in, default Word style, and so will appear in all Word documents, but perhaps we’re wrong.Does your document have a style ‘Normal’? If not, worth creating one and trying again.
Also, if ‘Normal’ is not there, what styles do you have? Look like we’ve been caught out again making assumpions about MS Word.
. Also, what langauge do you use for Word? Perhaps it’s a national language thing?
Thanks
eadocX SupportParticipantyes!
When you define how to print your element ( only works with INLINE formatting – can’t embed a Linked Document in a table) then just choose ‘LinkedDocument’ from the list of Standard Attributes.
We suggest that you don’t use Headings and other RTF formatting in the Linked Document, as that tends to make the document numbering a bit strange.eadocX SupportParticipantIf you want to change the width of the table manually, just select the ‘Profile’ tab in eaDocX, and select the type of EA element you are printing (Use Case, Class, Requirement etc). Then, in the ‘Table Formatting’ page, slide the columns to be the width you need, as you would with a spreadsheet column.
We provide a rough guide as to how wide a ‘standard’ A4 page will be, but this is only approximate.
There’s not an option to automatically set the width of a table (I guess you mean set it to the width of the page) as it’s very difficult to calculate how wide the page will be – we need to calculate based on page size, margins, gutters etc, and we can’t get it to work reliably.eadocX SupportParticipantFixed, as of Beta 1.2.7
eadocX SupportParticipantI’m having problems finding a solution to this, so I’m afraid no solution will be available soon.
Very sorry if this means you can’t use eaDocX in your national langauge 🙁eadocX SupportParticipantThanks for reporting this. We will investigate.
eadocX SupportParticipantYou should have a folder somewhere called “eaDocX profiles and Samples”. Can you find it ?
