This is what I really want to do:

A standard document have the following:
    – some text to describe your sections
    – the data you want to reuse: = your Diagrams with their elements and description (Diagram content)
= the elements in a Package with their description, etc.

I would like to have a Package for each different Document I want to create with the relevant document text. And then drag the content diagrams and elements into eaDocX in the right place. See ‘Project Browser’ attached file.

So this is the process I would like to follow:
The packages in the ‘Doc1’ folder contains my document text in the notes (description). I would now like to add my diagrams in between in the right place as displayed in the second attached file ‘Desired result’. The reason for this approach is to allow a user to have different documents text (in a package) and reuse the data (diagrams) over and over in each of these documents.

Is there a way to achieve this? Reusing a diagram from one package in several other documents (other packages)? I know you cannot have one section inside another so I am looking for an alternative approach or methodology that I am missing…. I did look the help files for ‘Related Elements’ and ‘Structuring your document’ but none of them really solves my problem of using unique diagrams in different documents (packages).

I tried to better describe what I really want to do and hope you can assist.

I looked at Auto Templates. What I want to do is different in the sense that my content for my documents are captured in the EA Model as Package descriptions.

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for updating the code. In the new version 3.9.3.5 the Diagram does get generated  But now when selecting the option to add content, no content is generated in the doc :pinch:

Wow, that was really fast update of the code and support given by guys, I am impressed B)

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi,

    Thanks for the Feedback!! :cheer:

Ok, I see. In your case, your Diagrams are in the Packages that you add to your Model View. I followed the example used in the Help file for ‘Create an eaDocX document using Model View’.

    It has the following:
    – Package 1
    – Package 2
    – Package 3
    – Package 4
    – Diagram 1
    – Package 5

So if those Packages contain a Diagram you want to show, just make sure the Package Profile is set to show Diagrams. This also work at my side, no problem 🙂

The problem is with the above example where the Diagram itself (Diagram 1 as in the ‘Create an eaDocX document using Model View’ Help file) won’t generate in the document. :pinch: It does show up in the Profile Pane and I can include its contents, but it doesn’t generate in the document. If I do this from the Project Browser, there is no issue.

I hope this better describes the problem I am having.

    Hi,

I just uninstalled my version of eaDocX and installed version 3.9.3.4.

Sadly the problem still exists exactly as described in my first post :pinch:

Please help since using the Model View to generate a document (with diagrams) is a great feature and I would REALLY like to use it 🙂
