Tom TomasovicParticipant
Not trying to hijack this thread, but the same solution would be useful for Issues. Currently, in eaDocX (v3.9.5.7), there does not seem to be a way to access or report on Resources. The eaDocX, open in Excel option allows ONLY for reporting on the Element.
I had hoped to be able to use the eaDocX Excel import (and export) features to allow my development team to use Excel to manage issues, while allowing me to track and manage them in EA. Looks like that will not be possible.
Thanks!
Tom
P.S. Is there a target date for the next release yet?
Tom TomasovicParticipantIssue resolved. This occurs if the artifacts are children of a Package. In that case, there is no need to add them to the Package profile. They are included “automatically,” if a profile is created for them. Adding them to the Package profile makes them print twice.
(Note that I have not confirmed what will happen if no Artifact profile is created and they are added to the Package profile. That would be interesting to investigate.)
Thanks!

Tom TomasovicParticipantGot a little bit better results today. I can now include “Constraints” applied to my Class Properties, but I am still not getting “standard” information, e.g., UpperBound, LowerBound, etc.
Tom TomasovicParticipantI’ve figured this one out. My Activity Diagrams are “children” of the Use Case. When I added “children” to my Use Case profile, they printed. I also added a specific profile for “Activity” which only contains “Diagrams.”
I think I am good with this one, and I hope, perhaps, this information will ultimately be useful to someone.
Tom TomasovicParticipantSounds like your analysis is correct. I deleted the entire section from eaDocX and readded it, and the result was the same.
I guess that leads me to the question of whether you have any idea where EA stores the text for hyperlink steps. I will try poking around in the database, but a clue (or pointer) would be useful.
Thanks!
Tom
Tom TomasovicParticipantThat’s OK. 2018 is coming along very soon! (;-}
Tom
Tom TomasovicParticipantHi!
Your query returns pretty much what I expected from my model, but, again, the eaDocX extract is limited to the Elements (not the Attributes).
In terms of your query/model, I would suspect you don’t have an element with the appropriate stereotype which has attributes associated with it. That’s just a guess. As I said, it works fine for me.
Thanks!!
Tom
P.S. Looks like resolving this is on the “new features” development list, so, perhaps we are not doing anything wrong?
Tom TomasovicParticipantNote: Query above is not quite right. Should be (although both versions work in EA):
select distinct o.name [Entity], t.name [Attribute], t.Notes [Reference], t.Type, t.LowerBound [Mandatory], t.UpperBound [Multiplicity], t.Style [Mapping] from t_object o, t_attribute t where o.Stereotype = ‘Data Entity’ and o.Object_ID = t.Object_ID and t.Notes like ‘SUC%’ order by o.Name,[Attribute]
Tom TomasovicParticipantFeature and Compartment Visibility. Have to look at Diagram Filters. Not terribly familiar with them. Will check to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks!
Tom
Tom TomasovicParticipantOK. Thanks!
Tom
Tom TomasovicParticipantI can filter the displays in the diagrams fine, but I don’t see a way to filter the Word extracts (or Excel, for that matter). Should be a way to do it with “searches”, but I haven’t put that together, either. The SQL functionality of EA (Query Builder) is not the best.
Tom TomasovicParticipantCreated them as extensions to the Constraints list, so that they appear when creating constraints for Use Case Scenarios.
Tom TomasovicParticipantOK. As usual, things are a little weird. I just regenerated my document, eliminated the section and readded it. After juggling things around (rearranging, deleting, re-adding), it finally worked the way it’s “supposed to” (i.e., move the items around in the Model View and THEN add the section). Apparently, eaDocX does not “re-sort” the document, even if you re-sort the Model View. You appear to have to delete the section and then do the sorting.
Anyway, it seems to be working right now.
Thanks!
Tom
Tom TomasovicParticipantI just went through the same problem, and here is what I found:
Two versions of Skype for Business 2016 available. The “standard” version (what is normally installed) breaks the DLLs for any version of Office other than 365 (as best I can tell); second version is “stand-alone,” which, apparently, isolates the DLLs and allows other (older) versions of Office to function properly along-side of Skype for Business.
One relevant link from Microsoft is https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3139711/how-to-install-the-skype-for-business-basic-stand-alone-client
One minor caveat which I have not completely worked out: I am now getting regular errors from MS Office, saying that there is an issue and asking whether I want to “repair” my installation. Of course, I did this the first (one or two) times the error appeared. Now, I have taken to ignoring the error and, thus far, there seems to be no impact.
I will try to remember to update this thread, if I confirm this is something related to the Skype for Business installation.
