Connector Types describe how two types of element can be connected. There may be many connector types between the same pair of element types, and connector types can link elements of the same type. This view shows the details of a connector type.
Data | Description | See Also |
---|---|---|
EA Connector type | Defines the connector type in terms of the built-in UML types, and any custom stereotypes | |
Stereotype | ||
OR | ||
MDG | Defines the connector type in terms of a type which already exists in another MDG | |
MDG connector meta-type | ||
Multiplicity | Optional – Defines how many of the target element can be linked to the source element. Used when validating diagrams, to check that there are not too few, or too many connectors between a pair of elements | |
Direction | Defines the sense of the connector: to/from, bi-directional, or none (used mostly for Associations) | |
To/From element type | What’s at the other end of this connector type | |
User visible name | Where the connector type appears in a toolbox, this is the name the modeller will see. So you can make it something the modeller will understand, for example, it could be in their national language. | |
Help text | Shown to the user where they choose an incorrect connector type. Use this to explain to them what this type of connector, between this pair of element types means. Note that the same connector type can have different meanings, and so different help text, between different pairs of element types, so this help can be very specific. | To see how this appears to modellers see Adding connectors to a managed diagram |
