Derived Relationships and Derived Connectors
Model Expert allows you to make it simpler for your modelers – and your model consumers – to make sense of your model by creating ‘short-cut’ connections.
These connections are derived from other connections, so, for example, if elements of type A are connected to elements of type B, and B to C, then you might choose to create Derived Relationship which defines how As are connected to Cs.
- A Derived Relationship is the definition of how two types of element may be connected. It describes a route from the first elements to the second, with as many intermediate element types and connector types as you need.
See Defining Derived Relationships - A Derived Connector is a real EA connector, created based on the rules of one Derived Relationship. It is created by a modeler, Model Expert will take the rules in the Derived Relationship bank walk the tree of connections which is defines, to see if it’s connected. If the rules are met, then an EA connector is created. Derived Connectors need to be checked each time they are used, to make sure they are still valid, by this is fully automated by Model Expert.
