You may already be using the EA Auto-Counters feature (Configure | Settings | Auto names and counters) which can create new names and/or numbers when you create new elements.

Creating new elements in eaXL is easy, and eaXL can use Auto-counters to create names/numbers for new elements.

1.First, make sure you have enabled EA Auto-counters for the types of elements you are going to create. Here we are going to create some new Requirement elements, so we have setup the Auto-counters in EA like this:

 

2.Now, when you add new elements using Excel, EA will give them new 'Alias' values, using the setting above.
